HCCC News - Sept 26 2022

Dear Members,

The season is fast approaching and we thought it time to update you on a few things.

HCCC Chairs Welcome

On behalf of the Management Committee I would like to welcome you all to the 2022–23 season. In the coming season we look forward to creating an environment where all of our cricketers, junior and senior grow and develop their game and thoroughly enjoy participating in the great game of cricket.

During 2021–22 season at Hibiscus Coast Cricket Club we saw the community enjoy some normality after a torrid couple of years with Covid. The sun was out, the sound of the ball hitting willow, and the laughing and buzz of our juniors excited at being active on the cricket ovals around the region was great to see.

We saw some growth of our senior teams with the premiers and reserves proving to be competitive and hardworking on the field while also having fun off the field. We saw some exceptional performances from our rangatahi in the summer series, and some fantastic support through managers, coaches and parents on the side-lines.

During 2022-23 we aim to continue to consolidate on the above and in particular focus on:

  • Continuing to provide fun appropriate training opportunities for all our participants especially aiming to provide opportunities to better assist and support our volunteer coaches;
  • Continuing our focus on growing the participation in Junior Cricket, especially with girls in our region being introduced to the game;
  • Providing enhanced coaching development opportunities and resources;
  • Continuing to support the performance teams to continuously improve.

We are looking for more volunteers, junior coordinators, coaches, partners, and opportunities in our community to engage so please get in touch if you want to support this growing club.

Finally I point you to our values and outcomes for our club developed last year:

I finish with a quote from the great Jonty Rhodes:

“I’m convinced things will go much better if the players smile and have some fun on the field rather than acting like wound-up springs”

All the best for an enjoyable season.

Prem and Prem Reserve Players - coloured uniform is supplied though you are able to purchase your own, required to purchase white HCCC uniform

Seniors grade, one-day teams - a white HCCC shirt is required

Junior Hardball Players - maroon HCCC playing shirt is required

Superstar players - no uniform required

As well as playing shirts we will have a selection of club hoodies and training gear available for purchase.  If you are not able to make it on the 16th please get in touch.

PlayHQ

Some of you will have received emails from NZ Cricket or seen advertising about the move from CricHQ to using PlayHQ for scoring of games etc.

PlayHQ is an Australian based software company and we have been busy learning about the new system over the winter.  It is used for registrations (we use FriendlyManager as our primary registration system), team management and e-scoring.  Before the beginning of the season we will be sending links out to registered players asking them to also register with PlayHQ.  This needs to be done at least a week before the first games so that we can create the teams in PlayHQ so live scoring can happen.  Please note there are different links for seniors, juniors and superstar players.

Coaches / Managers / Scorers / Umpires

We can't get through the season without our volunteers who coach, manage teams, score and umpire.  Every team needs at least 2 people who can score the game and at least 2 that can umpire to share the load.  We will be sending information out about different training opportunities for the above volunteers soon.  It will be imperative that team scorers especially, attend the training sessions as PlayHQ is quite different to the CricHQ system.

2022 Cricket Express Taupo Spring Invitational

A mixed team of youth and seniors headed down to Taupo on Friday to play in the 2022 Cricket Express Taupo Spring Invitational. They played 4 T20 matches over Saturday and Sunday and for many of them these were the first games they have played this season.

They came away with two losses and two wins. A great result this early in the season. Well done boys.

As always, if you have any questions or queries please get in touch - info@hibiscuscricket.co.nz
